Bengaluru: Teenagers amongst 11 dead in stampede during RCB victory celebration

PTC News Desk: RCB's grand celebration turned tragic on Wednesday after a stampede broke out leaving eleven people dead and several others injured.

The event was organised at Vidhana Soudha to felicitate Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their historic maiden IPL title after a span of 18 years. The felicitation event drew massive crowd resulting in a stampede.

The crowd seemingly swelled outside the stadium and police was seen resorting to mild force to disperse the crowd.

BJP’s Karnataka unit, posting on X, said, "Many are battling for life after a stampede due to the irresponsibility of the Congress govt. No crowd control measures. No basic arrangements. Just chaos. While innocent people died, @siddaramaiah & @DKShivakumar were busy shooting reels & hogging limelight with cricketers. Shame on this photo-op Congress government. This is criminal negligence. Blood is on the hands of Congress govt."

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya in a post on X, wrote, "tragic stampede in Bengaluru. A celebration has turned into a nightmare.”

“This heartbreaking incident could have been avoided. The lack of basic administrative foresight and failure in crowd control by the state government has led to an irreparable loss. Accountability must be fixed. Lives were lost due to negligence, not chance,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, "I have spoken to the Police Commissioner and everyone. I will also go to the hospital later. I do not want to disturb the doctors who are taking care of the patients. The exact number cannot be told now. We appeal to the people to remain calm. We shortened the program. The program ended within 10 minutes. We are trying to make everything normal...Lakhs of people came."
