Chopper makes emergency landing on road in Uttarakhand, tail crushes car | watch
PTC News Desk: A helicopter with five passengers on board made an emergency landing in the middle of the road in Uttarakhand due to technical malfunction shortly after take off. The chopper, which was owned by Kestrel Aviation Private Limited, was en route from Rudraprayag to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. The tail of the chopper crushed a parked car. All the passengers are safe, however the pilot has sustained minor injuries and rushed to the hospital.

The incident took place at approximately 12:52 pm while the helicopter was heading to Kedarnath Dham with five passengers on board.
During takeoff, the pilot, Captain RPS Sodhi, noticed a possible malfunction with the collective control getting jammed. Acting swiftly and decisively, Captain Sodhi carried out a controlled emergency landing on the road just below the helipad, successfully averting a potentially serious mishap.
District Tourism Development Officer and Heli Service Nodal Officer Rahul Chaubey confirmed the incident, stating, “A helicopter operated by Krestel Aviation Private Limited was departing from its Badasu base to Shri Kedarnath Dham with five passengers when it encountered a technical issue. The pilot detected the problem promptly and carried out an emergency landing on a nearby empty road.”
The forceful landing caused damage to a vehicle parked along the roadside, but the situation was swiftly managed. Officials noted, “The pilot’s quick thinking and vigilance prevented a major accident.”
