Cloudy skies and gusty winds in Delhi today, temperature set to soar

PTC News Desk: Today, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasts a partly cloudy sky and gusty winds sweeping through Delhi. Temperatures are expected to range between a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius.

The city has been experiencing a gradual increase in temperatures over the past days, and the weather office anticipates further warming trends as April progresses.


Yesterday, the mercury soared to 35.2 degrees Celsius, marking a departure of three degrees from the seasonal average. Friday saw Delhi experiencing its hottest day of the year so far, with the temperature hitting 37.8 degrees Celsius, a significant five-degree departure from the norm. Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, the maximum temperature settled at 37 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its recent update, forecasts a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius across many parts of south peninsular India over the next five days.

IMD also warns of heatwave conditions in isolated pockets, including Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha from March 30 to April 1, North Interior Karnataka on March 30 and 31, Telangana from March 31 to April 3, and Rayalaseema from April 1 to 3.

Additionally, IMD predicts warm night conditions in isolated pockets over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada from March 30th to April 1st.
