The roadshow began shortly after PM Modi landed at Vadodara airport, stretching for nearly a km up to the Air Force Station. Massive crowds lined the route, waving the national flag and chanting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ while showering flowers on the PM's cavalcade. Among them were Colonel Qureshi’s proud parents, Taj Mohammad Qureshi and Halima Qureshi, her twin sister Shyna Sunsara, and her brother Sanjay Qureshi.

Speaking to reporters, Sunsara called the occasion “a moment of pride.” She recalled the heartfelt moment when Prime Minister Modi bowed in greeting as he passed by them. “We returned the gesture with flowers. It felt symbolic – as if he was saying the nation stands behind us, and we need not fear anything. It was something I can’t put into words,” she shared.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s commitment to women’s empowerment, Sunsara added, “Colonel Qureshi is not just my sister but now belongs to the whole country. She has always inspired me, and now she is inspiring countless others.”
Taj Mohammad Qureshi expressed gratitude that PM Modi recognised and greeted them during the roadshow. His wife, Halima Qureshi, echoed his sentiment, saying, “She is my daughter, yes, but she now belongs to the country. We were honoured to be there.”
Colonel Qureshi’s brother, Sanjay, highlighted the significance of her role in Operation Sindoor. “Watching my sister represent the strength of Indian women on the battlefield makes us proud. This shows the world that our women are no less than men when it comes to courage and sacrifice,” he said. “Women’s empowerment is essential to national progress, and this mission proved just that.”
Operation Sindoor has become a defining chapter in India’s fight against terrorism, with Colonel Sofiya Qureshi emerging as a symbol of strength and resilience.
Following the roadshow, Prime Minister Modi shared a message on social media expressing his appreciation. “Extremely delighted to be in this great city. It was a splendid roadshow and that too in the morning! Gratitude to all those who showered their blessings,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister’s two-day Gujarat visit also includes the launch of key infrastructure projects worth Rs 82,000 crore. Later today, he is scheduled to inaugurate two Vande Bharat Express trains from Dahod and will lead two more roadshows as part of his engagements in the state.
