Court orders FIR against BJP minister for controversial remarks against Col Sofiya Qureshi

PTC News Desk: The Madhya Pradesh high court on Wednesday ordered to register a case against state minister and BJP leader Vijay Shah for his controversial remarks against Col Sofiya Qureshi.

The development followed a day after a viral video surfaced showing Shah making derogatory comments about Qureshi, who was one of the officials representing the armed forces during the Operation Sindoor briefing, sparking widespread outrage.

A division bench led by Justice Atul Shridharan has issued firm instructions to the Director General of Police to promptly register an FIR against the minister. The court mandated that the FIR must be filed within four hours without exception.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari has filed a complaint against Shah over his objectionable remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.

Questioning BJP silence on the issue he said, "In his address to the nation, PM Modi said that he salutes the valour of the armed forces, and he also said that the whole country stands in support of the armed forces in this difficult time... A minister from Madhya Pradesh insulted the officers of the army and sisters... Why is the BJP silent on this?"

“Modi ji is striving for society. Those who widowed our daughters [in Pahalgam], we sent a sister of their own to teach them a lesson,” he said.

The case is scheduled to be heard on May 15 on an urgent basis.
