Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma loses cool, slaps man filming him during road inspection in Tilak Nagar
PTC News Desk: Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma lost his cool and slapped a young man while he was filming him recording a road inspection in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar on Sunday. The confrontation, caught on camera, came after Verma and AAP MLA Jarnail Singh clashed over the quality of road construction in the area.
Verma later posted a video on X giving his account of the incident, saying, "Aaj ki ghatna ke peeche ki poori sacchai suniye...lekin jo hua woh nahi hona chahiye tha"

The incident took place while Delhi Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma was inspecting a road in Tilak Nagar, west Delhi.
A video of the incident shows Verma and AAP’s Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh arguing over the quality of road construction. Both leaders criticised each other over the condition of the road.
Singh challenged Verma, saying that the road had been uprooted as the minister had asked him to demonstrate. Verma responded by telling him not to make incorrect statements.
When Singh asked what he had said wrong, Verma replied that Singh had failed to build the road during his 15-year tenure and that the current government was now constructing it. Singh hit back, saying the road should not be built that way as it would not even last 15 hours.
Verma then began walking away. Singh followed him while carrying pieces of the road, while his personal assistant, Sahib Singh, continued recording the exchange on his mobile phone.
The video shows Verma turning towards the aide, pulling down his phone and slapping him while he was recording the incident.
A voice in the video can be heard saying, “How are you hitting him?” Another person is heard saying that Verma had slapped the man while the video was being recorded.
Another voice from the crowd said, “No one can slap a common man.”
Minister slaps youth
The footage shows Verma walking away from the spot as Singh follows him with pieces of the damaged road. Sahib Singh continues filming the exchange.
Verma then turns towards Singh’s aide, lowers his phone and allegedly slaps him. The incident was captured on video, with a person heard asking why he was being hit.
Verma says AAP worker abused his family
Defending his actions in a video posted on X, Verma said Jarnail Singh had arrived at the spot with his workers and that one of them abused his family members. He said he reacted in anger after the alleged abuse.
"Jarnail Singh arrived with his workers and immediately started misbehaving. One of his workers began hurling abuses at my family right upon arrival. In that moment of anger, anyone would react the same way I did," Verma said.
