Delhi Police register FIRs against Al-Falah University days after terror module bust
PTC News Desk: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has registered two separate FIRs against Al-Falah University in Haryana's Faridabad days after a deadly blast near the Red Fort Metro Station in the national capital that claimed 13 lives and injured dozens.
"The Delhi Crime Branch has filed two separate FIRs against Al-Falah University, one for cheating and the second under sections of forgery," the Delhi Police said in a statement. "Today, a team from the Delhi Crime Branch visited the Al Falah University office in Okhla. The Delhi Police has issued a notice to the university and requested certain documents from them."
This is another big setback for the Faridabad-based Al-Falah University, whose membership has already been cancelled by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
One FIR against the university is about alleged cheating, and the other is about forgery. These FIRs were filed after the University Grants Commission (UGC) complained.
The Delhi Police has also issued a notice to the university and asked for several documents while investigating the “white-collar” terror module that was uncovered last week. This module is believed to have links with Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
The university came under serious scrutiny after three doctors linked to the Delhi blast and the same terror module were arrested. Officials are now investigating how the university became a safe space for such people.
Al-Falah University, run by the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, originally started as an engineering college. It received an “A” grade from NAAC in 2013 and was given university status by the Haryana government in 2014.
