According to a statement released by Customs officials late Monday night, four passengers were apprehended following the confiscation of over 6.8 kg of gold worth Rs 4.44 crore and diamonds valued at Rs 2.02 crore during the weekend.

PTC News Desk: The Customs department at Mumbai airport made a significant discovery, uncovering diamonds concealed within packets of noodles and gold hidden in various places on passengers and in their luggage. The total value of the seized items amounted to Rs 6.46 crore, according to a late Monday night release from Customs officials.

During the weekend, four passengers were apprehended following the seizure of over 6.8 kg of gold valued at Rs 4.44 crore and diamonds worth Rs 2.02 crore.


Among the arrested individuals was an Indian national bound for Bangkok from Mumbai, who was intercepted with diamonds concealed within packets of noodles inside his trolley bag.

Additionally, a foreign national arriving from Colombo to Mumbai was found carrying gold bars and a cut piece, totaling 321 grams in net weight, hidden inside her undergarments.

Furthermore, ten Indian nationals, including two each from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and one each from Bahrain, Doha, Riyadh, Muscat, Bangkok, and Singapore, were intercepted. They were discovered to be carrying 6.199 kg of gold, valued at Rs 4.04 crore, concealed in various locations such as the rectum, on the body, and inside their baggage.

Three of these individuals were subsequently arrested. Further details regarding the concealment methods were not provided in the release.
