Dubai-bound flight emits smoke at Chennai airport, video goes viral
PTC News Desk: A fire broke out on the Emirates plane at Chennai International Airport late Tuesday night, just before its flight to Dubai.
According to reports, smoke began to rise from the plane as it was being refuelled for its journey to Dubai. Ground staff captured the video from the tarmac, and plumes of white smoke can be seen flowing out of the plane's tail as airport employees carefully approach it.
The video also shows firefighters spraying water on the plane's tail to extinguish the fire. An Emirates spokesperson stated that the aircraft EK547 from Chennai to Dubai was delayed owing to a "technical fault".

"Emirates flight EK547 from Chennai to Dubai on 24 September 2024 was delayed due to a technical fault. Following an engineering inspection, the aircraft was cleared to proceed to Dubai. Emirates apologises for the inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance," it stated.
