Family of seven killed in car catches fire after crash with truck in Rajasthan

PTC News Desk: A devastating car accident in Rajasthan's Sikar district has left seven members of a family dead, including two children and three women, after their vehicle collided with a truck and burst into flames.

According to police reports, the fatal incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon when a car carrying the victims, all hailing from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was returning from a pilgrimage to the Salasar Balaji Temple in Rajasthan's Salasar. The collision transpired as the car driver, en-route to Churu, attempted to overtake a truck. In a desperate maneuver to avoid an oncoming vehicle, the driver lost control, leading to the collision with the truck.

Tragically, the impact triggered a fire in the car's gas kit, exacerbated by cotton cargo loaded in the truck. Despite frantic attempts by bystanders, the intense flames rendered the car's doors inaccessible, ultimately resulting in the passengers being engulfed by the inferno.

Eyewitness Ramniwas Saini recounted the harrowing scene, noting the desperate cries for help from the trapped passengers, tragically unanswered due to the ferocity of the blaze.

Emergency services, including fire brigade vehicles, rushed to the scene, but tragically, the family had already succumbed to their injuries by the time the fire was brought under control. The victims have been identified as Neelam Goyal (55), her son Ashutosh Goyal (35), Manju Bindal (58), her son Hardik Bindal (37), his wife Swati Bindal (32), and their two young daughters. Meanwhile, the truck driver and helper managed to escape the incident unscathed.

Further investigation by the police revealed that the car, originally owned by Ashutosh, had been sold approximately a year and a half prior to the accident. Through collaboration with the car's seller, authorities were able to identify the unfortunate family caught in the tragedy.
