Faridabad horror: Chips and soft drinks in hand, man holds children tight until train crushes them to death
PTC News Desk: A 36-year-old man held on to his four sons, youngest being three year old and the oldest nine untill an expressed train crushed them to death on Tuesday. While holding a packet of chips and a bottle of cold drink in their hand, the children held tight to their father and pleading at the same time to let go off them till the time a train ran all five of them over.
The reason behind this drastic step has not been established yet. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Mehto
'The train which was coming from Mumbai crushed them under its wheel around 1.10 pm,' said Rajpal, the SHO of the govt railway police unit.
The police further said that while leaving home, he told his wife that he is taking his kids to the park to play. Instead of taking them to park, Manoj took the kids to railway tracks and sat under the Elson Chowk flyover for about an hour while waiting for the train to arrive. Before arriving on the tracks he bought chips and soft drink for the kids.
The remains were taken to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for post mortem.
The police said that they are investigating that why Manoj took such a drastic step. They further said that Manoj was reportedly having a troubled marriage however it is unclear that whether it has anything to do with the suicide.
'The priority now is to establish Manoj's state of mind and circumstances that led him to take such a step. It is also important to support the bereaved family.'
