Faridabad sexual assault case: Woman assaulted in ambulance, not van, say police

PTC News Desk: A significant revelations has emerged in the horrific Faridabad sexual assault case where police have now said that victim was subjected to the assault in a private hospital's ambulance and not in a moving van.

A senior investigating officer on Sunday said that the accused used to work as a driver and helper on the ambulance.

The accused hailing from Mathura and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh have since been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

The woman remains hospitalised six days after the incident.

Investigators said the woman had informed her sister over the phone that she was upset after the quarrel and was going to her friend’s place, assuring her she would return within three hours. At around 12.30 am, while heading back home, she reached Metro Chowk and began looking for a ride.

Her sister told police that while the woman was asking auto drivers for transport, an Eco van stopped and its occupants offered to drop her home. Trusting them, she got into the vehicle. However, instead of taking her home, the accused allegedly drove towards the Faridabad–Gurugram road and diverted the van to a secluded forested area, where the sexual assault took place.

“The woman has sustained injuries to her head and face. Medical treatment is underway and further investigation in the matter is continuing,” the official said.
