Former MP Prajwal Revanna gets life imprisonment for sexually assaulting domestic worker, fined Rs 11 lakh
PTC News Desk: Former JD(S) MP and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has been sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting domestic worker from KR Nagar in Mysuru, Karnataka and recording it. He has also been penalised Rs 11 lakhs that will go as compensation to the rape survivor.
Earlier on Friday he was convicted of the heinous crime . The trial commenced on December 31, 2024.
The verdict has been delivered 14 months after the case was registered, with the trial concluding at a remarkable pace.
The case, which was registered at the Cyber Crime Station of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), accused Revanna of raping the woman on two occasions and recording the act.
Prajwal Revanna, who was the BJP candidate for Lok Sabha polls from Hassan was accused to sexually assaulting a domestice worker and the incident came to light after a pen drive containing explicit videos, filmed by Revanna was reportedly circulated ahead of the elections.
However, Revanna maintained the videos involving him are doctored and had filed a complaint against it.
Over the course of seven months, the court examined all the witnessed and scrutinised key forensic science laboratory (FSL) reports of the video clips as well as spot inspection reports from the scene of the crime.
