Free beer, dosa, laddu and bike services: Bengaluru’s enticing deal to encourage voter turnout during Lok Sabha polls

Lok Sabha Polls 2024: In a bid to encourage voter turnout during the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Bengaluru, Nisarga Grand Hotel on Nrupathunga Road offered an enticing deal: free Benne Dosa, Ghee Laddu, and more to those who cast their ballots.

The initiative sparked a buzz on social media as Bengalurians flocked to the hotel, forming long queues for their complimentary meals.

People of varying ages, spanning from the youth to senior citizens, stood in lengthy lines outside Nisarga Grand Hotel. They exhibited patience, wearing smiles and proudly exhibiting their inked fingers.

How to avail the offer ?

To avail the enticing deal, voters had to show their voter ID cards and their inked fingers in order to participate in the offer, therefore it was a joyous occasion for those expressing their democratic rights.

However, this wasn't the only advantage offered to voters in the city; other incentives to promote political engagement included beer and free Rapido rides.

A Deck of Brews, a resto-pub in Bellandur, is rewarding voters who participate in the polls on April 27 and 28 with a free cup of beer and discounts. It has been reported that SOCIAL, a different chain of bars, is offering customers who return with tattooed fingers a 20% discount on meals for a week following election day.

Similarily, Rapido is offering complimentary bike taxi, auto, and cab rides to differently-abled and senior citizen voters in Karnataka.

As per the company’s initiative, residents in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangaluru can utilise the code ‘VOTENOW’ to avail free transportation to and from polling stations on April 26.

Polling commenced on Friday in 88 constituencies spread across 13 states and Union Territories in the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections

This includes all 20 seats in Kerala, 14 out of 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, eight seats each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, six seats in Madhya Pradesh, five seats each in Assam and Bihar, three seats each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and one seat each in Manipur, Tripura, and Jammu and Kashmir.
