Government nods for 16-hour debate in house on Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor next week

PTC News Desk: The central government has agreed to hold a discussion in Parliament on Pahalgam attack and subsequent Operation Sindoor in its response, while allotting a time window of 16 hours.

The discussions will be held in Lok Sabha next week after the Congress-led Opposition stalled the Lower House proceedings on day one of the monsoon session seeking an immediate debate on the issue and a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Rajya Sabha too witnessed a similar situation of pandamonium followed by a walkout led by Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge on the matter.

The decision to debate the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 tourists, including a Nepalese national, on April 22, was taken at a meeting of the LS business advisory committee (BAC), chaired by Speaker Om Birla. The meeting decided to discuss only these two issues next week once the PM returns from his UK and Maldives tour on July 26.

Prime Minister Modi will be embarking on a two-nation visit to the UK and the Maldives from July 23 to July 26.
