Groom amongst 8 killed as speeding SUV crashes into college wall in UP's Sambhal
PTC News Desk: At least eight members of a family including a 24-year old groom, were killed and several others injured after a speeding SUV in which they were travelling lost control and crashed into a wall in UP's Sambhal district.
According to police, there were more than 12 people in the ill-fated car that lost control. The groom, his sister, three children and three others perished in the accident.
Senior police official rushed tot he accident spot after they received information about the incident.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Five people were declared dead on the spot while three others succumbed to the injuries during treatment. Two survivors remain in critical condition and have been referred to a higher medical centre in Aligarh.
"The SUV lost control and rammed into the wall of Janata Inter College," said Additional Superintendent of Police (South), Anukriti Sharma, who visited the scene shortly after the crash. "Upon receiving information, local police and medical teams launched an immediate rescue operation. Five individuals were brought dead to the Jewanai Community Health Centre."
Several videos recorded by the onlookers showed shattered glass pieces of windows, bloodstains and disfigured car beyond recognition.
