Gujarat family tragedy: Three children among seven of family found dead at their Surat residence
PTC Web Desk: A tragic incident was reported from Surat city in Gujarat, where seven members of a family, including three children, allegedly died by suicide at their residence on Saturday. The police suspect it to be a mass suicide case.
The bodies of the seven persons were found in an apartment located in the Adajan locality, Surat City, Gujarat. A note was recovered from their home, indicating that financial distress drove the family to take this extreme step.
Investigations reveal that six of the family members died apparently due to ingesting a poisonous substance while one member was found hanging.
The family head, Manish Solanki (37), worked as a contractor. It is learnt that the family faced dire financial difficulties resulting from their inability to recover a loan given to someone, according to the note recovered at the scene. A bottle believed to contain some poisonous substance was also found.
Surat Mayor Niranjan Zanzmera stated, "It appears that Solanki made his family members consume poison before hanging himself. The bodies are being sent for post-mortem examinations." Further investigations are on.
