Gurugram woman, lover among five held for husband’s murder after daughter exposed illicit affair
PTC Web Desk: In a chilling case from Haryana's Gurugram, the police have arrested five persons, including a woman and her lover, for allegedly murdering her husband and secretly burying his body. The motive behind the crime surfaced after the couple's daughter came across an obscene video of her mother with a neighbour and informed her father.
The victim, Vikram (37), originally from Nawada, Bihar, was living with his wife, Soni Devi (35), and their daughter in Dundahera village near Udyog Vihar, Gurugram. According to the police, Soni Devi was in an illicit relationship with her neighbour, Ravindra (34), for nearly a year. During this time, the duo recorded explicit content of themselves, which was later discovered by Soni Devi’s daughter on Ravindra's phone. Upon learning of the video, the daughter informed her father, prompting the woman and her lover to plot his murder.
Before Vikram could confront his wife or take any action, he was allegedly murdered on July 26. The police say Soni Devi and Ravindra extensively researched various ways to kill and dispose of Vikram’s body through the internet and YouTube. On the fateful evening, Ravindra and his accomplices intercepted Vikram as he returned from work, forcibly pulled him into a car, strangled him with a rope, and transported his body to Mohammadpur Jharsa village.
There, Ravindra’s 60-year-old uncle, Santarpal, who worked as a caretaker of cattle, had allegedly prepared a burial site in advance. With the help of Manish (19) and Fariyaad (20), the group buried the body in a pit dug earlier on Ravindra's instructions.
On July 28, Soni Devi filed a missing person complaint with the police, feigning ignorance of her husband’s whereabouts. Then, on July 31, she made a second complaint, accusing Ravindra of raping her in March 2025 and blackmailing her with a video clip. However, police investigations unraveled the entire conspiracy.
During interrogation, Ravindra confessed to the crime and disclosed his relationship with Soni Devi. He also revealed the location of Vikram’s burial, following which the police exhumed the body.
The police said Soni Devi was in continuous contact with Ravindra throughout the crime. The three other accused—Manish, Fariyaad, and Santarpal—were arrested and sent to police custody for five days. Soni Devi has been placed under judicial remand.
