Haryana resident stabbed to death in Leicester, UK; Amritsar resident arrested
PTC Web Desk: Amit Bakshi (37), a resident of Pathanmajra village in Ambala district, Haryana, was tragically stabbed to death in Leicester, England, late Sunday night. The victim was allegedly attacked while sleeping at his residence on Sale Street, the police said.
According to Leicestershire police, cops were alerted around 1.37 am local time, who found Amit’s body with severe stab wounds to his chest. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Detective Chief Inspector Tim Lindley, who is leading the investigation, said initial evidence suggested the murder stemmed from a personal dispute.
Authorities have arrested the prime suspect, identified as Amar Singh, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab, who was reportedly sharing accommodation with Amit. Five other persons have been detained for questioning in connection with the case.
Amit had been living in the United Kingdom for the past 17 years, working with a construction company in Leicester. Known among his peers as a hardworking and responsible man, Amit had been supporting his family in India. His mother passed away four years ago, and his father, Shyam Bakshi, and younger brother, Rahul, currently live in Ambala.
It is learnt that Amit was planning to return to India in December to finalise his wedding arrangements.
