Helicopter en route Kedarnath goes tailspin; makes emergency landing 100 meters from holy shrine

Kedarnath: A helicopter with 7 people on board made an emergency landing around 100 meters from the Kedarnath helipad due to a technical issue. 

All 6 passengers and the pilot are safe. 


A video captures the helicopter tail spinning just before the emergency landing, as people near the helipad scatter for safety.

"A Kestrel Aviation helicopter traveling from Sirsi helipad to Sh Kedarnath Dham, carrying 6 passengers and a pilot, had to make an emergency landing approximately 100 meters from the Sh Kedarnath Dham helipad at around 7:05 am due to a technical problem," reported the district disaster management officer of Rudraprayag.

The Char Dham Yatra started on May 10 this year. The Hindu pilgrimage Char Dham circuit consists of four sites: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The River Yamuna originates from the Yamunotri Glacier in Uttarakhand. Pilgrimage season peaks in Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra annually during the summers.
