Hemant Soren in ED custody; Champai Soren to be next Jharkhand CM
Hemant Soren in ED custody: Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Soren reached Raj Bhavan and tendered his resignation. Champai Soren is going to be the next chief minister of the state, JMM has officially confirmed.
Hemant Soren met Jharkhand Governor and tendered his resignation. "The CM is in ED custody. The CM has gone to the Governor with the ED team to submit his resignation... Champai Soren will be the new Chief Minister...We have enough numbers," JMM MP Mahua Maji said.

The development comes after hours-long questioning by ED in a money laundering case involving an alleged land scam.
Earlier in the day, a curfew under Section 144 of CrPC was imposed within a 100-metre radius of the Jharkhand Chief Minister's residence, Raj Bhavan and ED office in Ranchi. The Sub-Divisional Office issued an official curfew order on Wednesday in anticipation of rallies, marches, and protests against CM Hemant Soren's questioning and potential arrest.
