Hyderabad based industrialist Janardhan Rao murdered by grandson over property dispute; stabbed dozen times

PTC News Desk: Velamati Chandrasekhar Janardhan Rao an 86-year-old Hyderabad based industrialist was brutally murdered by his grandson over property dispute. Reportedly he was stabbed over multiple times.


The incident unfolded on the night of February 6 when the accused, his 28 year old grandson K Kirti Teja attacked his grandfather triggering his death on the spot. The accused also stabbed his mother when she attempted to intervened while sustaining injuries. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, according to the police officials. 

V C Janardhan Rao was chairman & managing director of the prominent city-based Veljan Group.

According to police officials, Teja attacked his grandfather and stabed him dozen times with a knife following a massive argument over property matters. Reportedly Teja was not happy with the distribution of the property and accused Rao of being indifferent towards him since childhood.

When asked about the reports that the victim was stabbed more than 70 times, police clarified that thought there are multiple stab wounds however the exact number could not be aschertained yet and it will be confirmed only after the post mortem examination. 

Based on a complaint, a case of murder was registered against the accused, and he was arrested, police added. Further investigation is ongoing.
