'If you can't be mine...': Man throws acid on woman days before her marriage in Uttar Pradesh
PTC News Desk: In a shocking turn of events, a man threw acid on a 25-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district days before her marriage.
The woman who was returning home from the bank when two men on a bike stopped her. "If you are not mine, you will not be anyone else's," one of the men said, as he threw acid on her. The accused identified as Janam Singh Patel was in a relationship with the woman and strongly objected to her marriage fixed with another man.
The unfortunate incident took place while she was returning home from bank and Patel threw acid on her with the intention of stopping her marriage on may 27. The woman's face, shoulder, neck and upper body were severely burnt. She was rushed to the Community Health Centre in her village, which then referred her to a hospital after primary treatment. She is undergoing treatment at the Global Hospital in Azamgarh for 60 per cent burns.
The police officials have arrested Patel and two other accused and the vehicle used in the incident has also been recovered. After the arrest, he told police that he wanted to throw the acid on her back with an intent of causing minimal damage so that her marriage can get cancelled and he can marry the woman.
Another incident of acid attack unfolded in the state where a man thre acid on his wife andtwo daughters in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district over suspicion of his wife's extramarital affair.
