Major achievements of India since Independence: Independence Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism on August 15th every year. This day marks the anniversary of India's independence from British colonial rule in 1947. The main event takes place at the historic Red Fort in Delhi, where the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag and delivers a speech addressing the nation. 


Since gaining independence in 1947, India has achieved a multitude of significant milestones across various sectors such as Economic, Health, Science and Technology, Women Empowerment, etc.

Economic Growth

From an agrarian economy to one of the world's fastest-growing major economies, India developed a lot and reached heights in Economic growth and development. India embarked on economic reforms and today is one of the world's fastest-growing major economies with 147 lakh crore GDP, accounting for 8% of global GDP. 

Science and Technology

Britishers in 1947 left India broken and underdeveloped, but few years after Independence, India’s science and technology sector expanded with the introduction of space program, nuclear program, and information technology (IT) services, etc. 

Invention of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has made remarkable advancements in space technology, including launching numerous satellites for communication, navigation, and scientific research.

Healthcare Industry

After India gained independence in 1947, significant developments have taken place in the healthcare sector. 

India emerged as a major producer of generic drugs and vaccines, contributing to global healthcare affordability and accessibility. India has improved exceedingly with respect to life expectancy.

Meanwhile, to combat the diseases such as HIV, AIDS, Malaria, etc, India also launched several pharmaceutical companies to curb the diseases. 

Green Revolution and Agricultural Growth

After India gained Independence in 1947, the country's agricultural sector underwent significant changes and developments aimed at improving agricultural productivity. The Green Revolution was a major agricultural initiative that aimed to increase crop yields varieties, modern farming techniques, and improved irrigation methods.

Meanwhile, investment in agricultural research and education led to the development of new crop varieties and agricultural practices adapted to Indian conditions. Several online agriculture platforms have also been launched. 

Women Empowerment and Gender Justice 

When we talk about women’s empowerment in India, it is all about education, gender equality, fundamental rights, legal rights, etc. 

Women in India gained iincreased representation in politics, academia, and various professions. 

Today, women are playing vital role in various sectors and are holding high-profile position in India. Access to education for girls has improved significantly with the introduction of policies like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao have been implemented to promote girls' education. 

International Relations

India has engaged in various diplomatic initiatives and treaties with neighboring countries after Independence in 1947. India has maintained diplomatic ties with various nations and has played a role in global organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation. In recent years, India has worked to establish strategic partnerships with various countries, including the United States, Japan, Australia, and countries in the European Union.

Infrastructure Development

India has made substantial progress in building infrastructure, including roads, railways, airports, ports, and telecommunications. This has improved connectivity and facilitated trade and transportation across the country.
