Indian forces on high alert as suspected Pak drones seen along LOC in Jammu and Kashmir
PTC News Desk: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were placed on heightened alert on Sunday evening after several suspected Pakistani drones were spotted near the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in the Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts.
According to the officials, all the flying objects were seen entering Indian airspace from across the border, hovering over sensitive locations and retreating back towards Pakistan.
The incident prompted the security agencies to activate standard operating procedures Security agencies immediately activated standard operating procedures, including alerting troops in nearby posts and launching coordinated searches in the suspected drop zones.
According to officials, at least five drone sightings were recorded in forward areas, leading to extensive ground searches to ensure no weapons or contraband had been air-dropped on Indian territory. In Rajouri’s Nowshera sector, Army personnel reportedly fired medium and light machine guns at a drone sighted over the Gania–Kalsian village region around 6:35 pm.
Around the same time, another drone-like device with a blinking light was detected near Khabbar village in the Teryath area. Officials said it seemed to originate from Dharmsal village in Kalakote and moved towards Bharakh before vanishing.
Samba district also reported similar incidents, with a drone-like object seen hovering briefly over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector at around 7:15 pm.
