IPS trainee hospitalised after suspected suicide attempt days after harassment complaint at Police Academy
PTC Web Desk: An IPS probationer undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad has been admitted to hospital after a suspected suicide attempt, days after a fellow trainee accused him of harassment and assault.
Officials said the trainee, Uday Krishna Reddy, is under medical observation. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed whether the incident was a suicide attempt.

According to sources, Reddy visited a friend's residence on Sunday evening, where he is suspected to have consumed poison. He was later rushed to hospital for treatment. Police and academy officials are monitoring the situation, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The development comes shortly after a 30-year-old IPS probationer filed a complaint against Reddy, accusing him of stalking, physical assault, criminal intimidation and secretly recording a private video without her consent. The complainant alleged that the incidents took place on multiple occasions during June and July.
Based on her complaint, the Hyderabad Police registered a case under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that Reddy sent sexually abusive messages through WhatsApp, made derogatory remarks about her in front of fellow probationer, accused her of being involved with another trainee, forced her to unlock her mobile phone and checked her private chats and took away her phone after demanding its password.
She further claimed that during one incident he allegedly restrained her, assaulted her, attempted to choke her, threatened her with a knife and prevented her from leaving his room.
The complaint also alleges that he later attempted to touch her inappropriately during another incident.
One of the most serious allegations is that he secretly recorded a private video without her consent and later sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail and defame her.
Investigators recovered a two-page note believed to have been written by Reddy before the incident. In the note, he denied all allegations and claimed that he and the complainant had been in a consensual romantic relationship since June 2025. He alleged that the relationship continued even after her marriage and claimed that she had voluntarily visited his room on multiple occasions.
Reddy also stated that he recorded videos to protect himself and later shared one with her husband as evidence. He denied assaulting or threatening the complainant and alleged that the complaint against him was false.
The police have not confirmed the contents of the note and said all claims made by both parties are being investigated. Officials said further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation.
