Jaishankar slams 'western hypocrisy' over Operation Sindoor, says 'they should look at own region'

PTC News Desk: External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar took a potshot at what he describes as western hypocrisy over their comments on India's military action against Pakistan-Operation Sindoor. He said that in today’s world, some western countries act only where it benefits them, but still offer “free advice" to India.

While speaking on reactions over the military action and said that the westerns countries did expressed tension about standoff, however their stance remains questionable.

“Why don’t you look at your own region and ask yourself, what are the levels of violence there, how much risk have been taken, how much worry the rest of us have about what you are doing?," the EAM said, slamming the western narratives.

Jaishankar said that Western nations often act based on their own interests but still give India unsolicited advice. He added that India must recognise this reality and continue following its own path without being influenced by outside opinions. He recalled that Operation Sindoor was carried out in May 2025 after a terror attack in Pahalgam killed 26 civilians. During the operation, India’s Army, Navy and Air Force launched targeted strikes on nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, killing over 100 terrorists.

US and mediation claims

His comments also follow the recent US operation in Venezuela, ordered by President Donald Trump, in which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured in Caracas and taken to New York. Trump has repeatedly said that US intervention helped India and Pakistan reach a ceasefire in May 2025—something India has firmly denied.

Jaishankar is currently visiting Luxembourg as part of a six-day tour covering France and Luxembourg.
