Jind youth shot dead in California after altercation, went to US via 'dunkey route'
PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old man from Barah Kalan village in Jind district was shot dead in California by a local resident after a dispute.
The victim, Kapil, son of Ishwar, had migrated to the US nearly three years ago via donkey route, paying around ₹45 lakh. He reportedly entered the US in 2022 after crossing the jungles of Panama and climbing over the Mexico border wall.
Though initially detained by authorities, he was released after due process and had since been working as a security guard. The shooting took place when Kapil confronted a man for urinating outside the premises where he was on duty.
According to village sarpanch Suresh Kumar Gautam, the argument escalated and the man shot him dead on the spot. The family was informed by a relative already living in the US. The sarpanch further said that villagers would meet the Jind Deputy Commissioner tomorrow to press for Kapil’s body to be brought back to India.
