Kaithal Honour killing: Another 'honour killing', Kaithal teen shoots sister

PTC News Desk: At Nanakpuri here on Wednesday, a 17-year-old engaged in a "honour killing" event when he shot his older sister because of their inter-caste marriage. His sister died and two others suffered critical injuries when he opened fire on her and her in-laws.

He said in a video posted on social media that he intended to kill his sister's husband after executing the crime, but he wasn't home at the time.

Komal, 20, has been confirmed as the deceased, while her mother-in-law Kanta and sister-in-law Anjali have been recognized as the injured. They are receiving care at Chandigarh's PGI. The police claim that in February, Anil, a resident of Nanakpuri, wed Komal, a resident of Keorak village in the district. Following her marriage, Komal and her in-laws resided in Nanakpuri.

Her brother arrived at the girl's house on Wednesday afternoon. He pulled out a pistol and shot his sister as soon as he spotted her inside the house. Anjali and Kanta emerged in response to the sound, and he fired at them both as well.

Following the event, neighbors began to assemble, and the accused was able to escape the scene. He turned himself in later at the City police station. He's been taken into custody. After all casualties were taken to the hospital, Komal was declared dead by the medical staff.

It appears that there may have been an honor killing. Superintendent of Police (SP), Kaithal Upasana stated, "We have filed a case against the accused under Sections 302, 307 of the IPC, the Arms Act, and the SC/ST Act. The investigation, she added, was in progress. DSP Gurvinder Singh attested to the accused's police surrender. "We are looking into other people's involvement in this case," he declared.
