Kanpur horror: Law student battles for life as stomach ripped open, fingers chopped over money dispute
PTC News Desk: In a horrifying act of violence, has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur where a 22-year-old law student was brutally assaulted with a cleaver, leaving him battling for life. The savage assault left deep head wounds, severed fingers, and exposed intestines.
The victims has been identified as Abhijeet Singh, a first-year LLB student at Kanpur University, who went to a medical store around 9 pm on Saturday to purchase medicines. What should have been a routine errand turned into a nightmarish ordeal when a heated argument broke out with the shop owner, Amar Singh, allegedly over payment.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants repeatedly attacked Abhijeet with a cleaver, inflicting deep wounds on his head and abdomen. His intestines spilled out, and two of his fingers were chopped off. Drenched in blood, he collapsed on the road as the attackers fled.
In a desperate attempt to save him, his family rushed to the spot, tied his intestines with a cloth, and took him to four different hospitals — all of which initially refused treatment due to the severity of his injuries.
Eventually, Regency Hospital admitted him, where doctors conducted a two-hour surgery, stitched 14 sutures on his head, and tried to reattach his severed fingers.
Abhijeet’s mother, Neelam Singh Chandel, alleged that the attackers are being shielded by the police. She further claimed that a false extortion and robbery case has been filed against her injured son to mislead the investigation. According to her, one of the accused, Prince Raj Srivastava, already faces multiple cases of extortion and land grabbing registered at the Kakadeo police station.
ACP Ranjeet Kumar confirmed that cases have been registered on both sides. “An FIR was lodged based on the initial complaint, and later we received a report from the other party as well. Both complaints are under investigation, and action will be taken accordingly,” he said.
