Ladakh: IAF Apache chopper makes emergency landing, pilots safe

Ladakh: During an operational training sortie, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Apache helicopter made an emergency landing in Ladakh on Wednesday.

The incident was attributed to the challenging terrain and high altitude in the Ladakh area of responsibility (AOR) according to the IAF. Consequently, the helicopter suffered damage.

Both the pilots on board are safe and have been recovered to the nearest airbase. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause.

Apache helicopters are advanced multi-role combat helicopters primarily used by the United States Army. They are known for their agility, firepower, and versatility in various combat situations. The Apache is equipped with sophisticated avionics, sensors, and weapons systems, making it capable of performing a wide range of missions including close air support, armed reconnaissance, anti-armor, and aerial escort.
