Massive fire breaks out in Ghaziabad house after AC unit bursts
PTC Web Desk: An air conditioning (AC) unit caught fire on Thursday, resulting in a major fire at a housing society in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, according to officials.
A house in a residential society in Sector 1 of Ghaziabad's Vasundhara caught fire when an air conditioner burst after being left running continuously for several hours due to the city's extremely hot temperatures.
"Today, around 05:30 a.m., the Ghaziabad, Vaishali fire station received a call from a resident reporting a fire in house number 1009, sector-01 Vasundhara area. As soon as the information was received, two fire tenders with units, including the second fire officer, were dispatched from the Vaishali fire station," said Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal.
According to reports, the air conditioner installed on the building's first floor caught fire after an explosion in the device. The fire soon spread to the second floor.
The house's people and neighbours tried to extinguish the flames but were unsuccessful, and the local fire department was notified.
The nearby fire department dispatched at least two fire tenders to the scene and began firefighting operations.
The authorities disconnected the cooking gas connection as a precautionary measure to avoid further damage.
"The fire unit took immediate action and saved the nearby houses as well. Some items were burnt in the fire and, due to the heat from the fire, some items kept in the house melted and got spoiled. However, there has been no loss of life in this fire", the CFO further stated.
