Police suspect dumping of Divya Pahuja's body in Punjab; accused allegedly blackmailed

New Delhi, January 04: Divya Pahuja, a 27-year-old model, recently released on bail after seven years in connection with the alleged fake encounter of Gurugram's notorious gangster Sandeep Gadoli, was discovered shot dead in a Gurgaon hotel. Divya's entanglement with the underworld began at 18 when she was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly facilitating Gadoli's staged encounter in 2016.

After her prolonged incarceration, the Bombay High Court granted her bail in June 2023, citing her lengthy imprisonment and the anticipation of an extended trial. Despite this, tragedy struck when Divya was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in a Gurgaon hotel.

The police arrested three individuals, including hotel owner Abhijeet Singh and two employees, while they were attempting to dispose of Divya's body. Singh alleged that Divya had been extorting money from him, a claim vehemently denied by her family.

Divya's sister accused Singh, allegedly paid by Gadoli's family members, of orchestrating the murder. Suspicions heightened due to Singh's contradictory statements and CCTV footage showing his involvement in handling Divya's body. As per the police spokesperson, Singh confessed to shooting Divya when she refused to unlock her phone, and later disposed of her body with the help of his associates.

According to Divya's family, she met Singh on January 1, and their last contact was on January 2 at 11:50 am, raising concerns about her safety when subsequent attempts to reach her failed. An ongoing investigation aims to unravel the complex web surrounding Divya's tragic demise.
