Mohan Yadav takes oath as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh

BJP leader Mohan Yadav took oath as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal on Wednesday. With this, era of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan came to an end.

Governor Mangubhai C. Patel administered the oath of office to Yadav in at the sprawling Motilal Nehru Stadium, Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal. 


Earlier in the day, Mohan Yadav stated that the state would follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's footsteps in leading the country.

"Madhya Pradesh will follow in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is leading the country. I am from the land of King Vikramaditya and am dedicated to the progress of the state and achieving all of the aspirations of crores of Madhya Pradesh," Mohan Yadav said.

Meanwhile, Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda were sworn in as deputy chief ministers, and former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will serve as Assembly Speaker.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections 2023: 

Madhya Pradesh held a single-phase election for 230 assembly seats on November 17, with results announced on December 3.

The BJP, which had been in power in the state for nearly 20 years, won a resounding mandate with 163 seats, while the Congress finished a distant second with 66 seats.
