The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Punjab after October 5 and a yellow alert has also been issued for the same.

Monsoon retreat in Punjab: Heavy rain likely after October 5, IMD issues yellow alert

PTC News Desk: The weather in Punjab is set to  take a dramatic turn once again as the monsoon is expected retreat in the state. The sudden shift in the weather is due to the western disturbance.


The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Punjab after October 5 and a yellow alert has also been issued for the same. 

As per the forecast, on October 5, a yellow alert for rainfall has been declared in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka, and Muktsar.

Due to the weather changes, Punjab’s maximum temperature dropped by 1.5°C in the past 24 hours, bringing it closer to the normal level. However, nighttime temperatures still remain higher than normal.

The state’s minimum temperature has decreased by 1°C, yet it is still 2.9°C above normal. Meanwhile, Mansa recorded the highest temperature in the state at 35.7°C.
