More terrorists active in south Kashmir region following Pahalgam attack: NIA
PTC News Desk: As the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its probe and search operation to nab the perpetrators of horrific Pahalgam massacre where 26 people were killed in broad daylight, there are strong reports suggesting that the terrorists involved remain active and hidden in south Kashmir.
As per the sources, there is credible intel suggesting terrorists are active in the region and numbers are higher than the ones involved in the Pahalgam attack. Notably on the day of attack, some additional terrorists were also present at a certain distance on stand by possibly to provide cover fire in case security forces attempted a rapid response.
Investigative agencies have also recorded statements from survivors and eyewitnesses, revealing the horrifying precision with which the attack was carried out.
Witness statements reveal chilling details: the terrorists reportedly attempted to segregate women from men and Hindus from Muslims. When the crowd refused, the attackers asked people to recite the Kalma (Islamic declaration of faith). Moments later, they opened fire indiscriminately. Among the first victims was Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who had just arrived through the entry gate.
The investigation has also revealed that terrorists had conducted reconnaissance of the locations a week before the attack. An amusment park was also on the target list of the terrorists which was later abandoned owing to the tight security.
