Naba Das murder: Police recover handwritten notes of accused ASI from septic tank; probe underway
Bhubaneswar (Odisha), February 2: The special investigating team (SIT) looking into the murder of minister Naba Das recovered handwritten notes from a septic tank at the Jharsuguda Airport police station on Thursday.
The CID and Crime Branch team stated in a statement that during questioning, the accused ASI revealed that he threw handwritten notes in a septic tank of the Jharsunguda Airport police station's toilet and that he had detailed his motives for the crime on the paper. The recovered handwritten papers will be sent to forensics and handwriting experts for reconstruction of evidence and further examination, according to the Crime Branch.
The deceased's preserved viscera were also sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL), Rasulgarh in Bermuda Biological Station for Research (BBSR) for chemical examination and opinion, according to the report.
Using a FARO 3-D Scanner, the Scientific Officer and Ballistic Experts recovered one fired bullet while inspecting the vehicle and the crime scene.
A medical team led by the DSP and CID Crime Branch in Berhampur is verifying the accused's medical treatment records and financial behaviour.
The team is also questioning those close to the accused in order to determine his plea. According to the crime branch, the accused's elder brother was also questioned in connection with this.
The Crime Branch also stated that the Additional DG of Police and the CID Crime Odisha are camping at the location. They are personally monitoring and supervising the case investigation.
Minister Naba Das was shot in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda district, on Sunday and died from his injuries in Bhubaneswar hospital.
