NEET-UG 2026 re-exam: NTA sends official updates on verified WhatsApp, new admit card mandatory
Neet re-exam update: Ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has started sending official notifications directly to candidates through its verified WhatsApp channel in an effort to streamline communication and curb the spread of misinformation.
The agency said the initiative is intended to help students receive genuine updates regarding examination centres, admit cards and other important instructions while safeguarding them from fake messages and online scams that often circulate during major examinations.
According to NTA, candidates should rely only on messages received from its verified WhatsApp account bearing the name “National Testing Agency” along with a blue verification badge. The official number being used for communication is 91 78279 80287. Any message claiming to be from NTA without verification should be treated with caution.
Officials clarified that the WhatsApp service is being used solely to share information and does not allow two-way communication. Students will never be asked to disclose OTPs, personal information, bank details or make any payments through the platform. The agency also reiterated that it does not circulate question papers, answer keys or any examination material claiming to be leaked.
Candidates appearing in the June 21 re-examination have been instructed to download their latest admit cards from the official NEET portal. NTA stated that admit cards issued for the May 3 examination will not be accepted for the re-test, as several candidates have been assigned new examination centres within their preferred cities.
At the same time, the agency clarified that students who have already downloaded and printed the June 21 admit card are not required to repeat the process.
NTA explained that the notifications being sent through SMS, email and WhatsApp are primarily meant for candidates who have not yet accessed their updated admit cards. Once downloaded and printed, no further action is required regarding the hall ticket.
Students have also been advised to visit the official website directly by entering the address manually in their browser instead of opening links shared through forwarded messages or unknown sources.
To combat cyber fraud, NTA has urged candidates to immediately report suspicious messages, fake notices or scam attempts through the designated grievance platform or by contacting the national cybercrime helpline at 1930.
The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination is set to be conducted under enhanced security arrangements following the cancellation of the earlier test, with authorities aiming to ensure a fair and transparent examination process for all candidates.
