Om Parkash Singh assigned additional charge of Haryana DGP as Shatrujeet Kapur sent on leave
PTC News Desk: IPS officer Om Parkash Singh has been appointed acting DGP of Haryana. He has been assigned additional charge of Director General of Police during the leave period of Shatrujeet Kapur, who was sent on leave until inquiry pending following allegations surrounding the death of IPS Y. Puran Kumar.
“The Governor of Haryana is pleased to assign the additional charge of DGP Haryana to Sh. Om Parkash Singh, IPS (HY:1992 RR), Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Panchkula, Director /FSL Madhuban and DG/ HSBNCB (H) during the leave period of Sh. Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, IPS HY:1990,” an order by the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, read.
Haryana Director-General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur was sent on extended leave after his name surfaced in a suicide note allegedly written by senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who was found dead at his Chandigarh home last week.

"Yes, the DGP has been sent on leave by the government," said Rajiv Jaitly, media adviser to the Haryana chief minister.
Following the registration of FIR, the Chandigarh Police constituted a six-member special investigation team to probe the case.
The family of IPS officer has refused to give consent for the post mortem and cremation until their demands are addressed.
Anniversary celebrations cancelled
The Haryana government has cancelled all events planned across the state to mark the first anniversary of the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government on October 17.
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi conveyed the decision to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) through an official message, with specific mention of Sonepat district. “There will be no one-year completion function either in Sonepat or in any other district on October 17,” the Chief Secretary stated. He also said the IAS Association would not host its customary Diwali dinner this year.
