Operation Sindoor: Pakistan sought ceasefire as India’s precision strikes achieved objectives, says Air Chief Marshal AP Singh

PTC Web Desk: Pakistan sought a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh stated on Friday, reaffirming the Indian government’s position that the May 10 cessation of hostilities came as a result of Islamabad requesting peace, rather than external intervention by US President Donald Trump.

The Air Force chief highlighted India’s military precision, noting that nine terror camps and bases across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were targeted in retaliation for the terror attack on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

“During Operation Sindoor, terrorists were held accountable for their actions, and the world witnessed India achieving its objectives. We conducted strikes over 300 km, after which Pakistan requested a ceasefire,” he said. He also praised India’s air defence systems for successfully intercepting or neutralising Pakistani missiles and drones during the nearly 100-hour conflict.

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh also warned that future warfare would evolve significantly. “The next war will be very different from previous conflicts. We need to prepare not only for current threats but also for future challenges,” he added.

Echoing this, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh last month stressed the transformation of modern warfare. “In the 21st century, the pace of change in conflicts is rapid. Large numbers of soldiers or weapon stockpiles alone are no longer sufficient. Cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, and satellite surveillance are reshaping the battlefield. Precision-guided weapons, real-time intelligence, and data-driven operations are now key to success in any conflict,” he said.
