PGIMER main gate to remain shut for six hours on Sunday due to Chandigarh International Marathon
PTC Web Desk: The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has announced a temporary closure of its main gate on Sunday morning due to traffic arrangements linked to a major city event.
According to an official advisory, the main entrance of the institute will remain closed from 4 am to 10 am. The decision has been taken in view of the 1st Chandigarh International Marathon, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The marathon will begin at 7 am from Chandigarh Club in Sector 1. As large crowds and road diversions are expected in the surrounding areas, special traffic management plans have been put in place by the authorities.
PGIMER officials said that the temporary restriction is aimed at ensuring smooth movement during the event and maintaining public safety. However, the hospital has made alternate arrangements so that patient care services are not affected.
During the six-hour closure, patients, their attendants, hospital staff and visitors have been advised to use other entry gates to access the campus. The Sector-11 gate and other designated entry points will remain open throughout the period. Emergency services will continue to function without interruption.
Hospital authorities have requested the public to plan their visit accordingly and leave early if they have appointments scheduled during the morning hours. This will help avoid unnecessary delays caused by traffic diversions.
The administration also clarified that regular entry through the main gate will resume after 10 am once the traffic restrictions are lifted.
