Six students were killed and 14 others injured after a private school bus carrying them toppled in Kanina, Haryana's Mahendragarh district, on Thursday, according to officials.

'Vehicle carrying children had no documentation'

District Collector Monika Gupta stated, "It has come to our attention that this was a private school that was operating even on a holiday, and action will be taken. Six casualties have been reported.

"Treatment of the injured children is ongoing. Now there is no danger to anyone's life...The government is giving them the best possible treatment. There was also no documentation relating to the vehicle, thus an FIR is being filed against the school administration as well," the District Collector said.

'Driver was under the influence of alcohol'

According to authorities, the preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was driving the bus while under the influence of alcohol.

"After receiving information about the incident, we went to the location. The driver is suspected of being intoxicated," Uday Bhan, the Mahendragarh Station House Officer (SHO), stated.

One of the students who was injured in the accident stated that the bus was going too fast and collided with a canal, resulting in the accident.

"The driver was drunk, and the bus was going too fast. As soon as the driver attempted a turn, the bus collided with a canal and overturned."
