PM Modi highlights opposition's persistence in remaining on the opposition benches
PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his response to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address in the Lok Sabha on Monday, directed pointed criticism at the opposition, accusing them of lacking the courage to participate in elections and instead seeking alternative paths for political relevance.
Addressing the Opposition, PM Modi remarked, "I see that many of you (Opposition) have even lost the courage to contest elections." He highlighted reports of individuals contemplating changing their seats and opting for Rajya Sabha over Lok Sabha, suggesting a strategic assessment of their political paths.
Responding to the Opposition's concerns regarding minority representation and initiatives for minority communities, PM Modi asserted that the definition of minority could vary based on regional demographics. He stated, "Maybe fishermen are not from the minority in your place, maybe animal herders are not from the minority in your place, maybe farmers are not from the minority in your place, maybe women are not from the minority in your place."

The Prime Minister questioned the Opposition's persistent focus on societal divisions and urged them to move beyond divisive rhetoric, emphasising the need for inclusive governance. In a direct address to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, PM Modi queried, "What has happened to you Dada? How long will you keep thinking about divisions? How long will you keep dividing the society?"
In a subtle dig at former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, PM Modi commented, "In a bid to re-launch the same product, the shop of Congress is on the verge of being locked." This remark alluded to the repetitive nature of Congress's strategies and the potential consequences of such approaches.
PM Modi's remarks underscored his stance on the opposition's approach to politics, calling for a shift towards constructive and inclusive governance rather than perpetuating divisive narratives.
