Pulwama electrician detained in Red Fort car blast probe as Jammu & Kashmir agencies tighten crackdown

PTC Web Desk: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir have detained another suspect in connection with the interstate terror network linked to the Red Fort blast case. The blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on November 10 claimed at least 15 lives, along with the suicide attacker, identified as Dr Umar Un Nabi from Al-Falah University, Faridabad.

The latest detainee, identified as Tufail Ahmed, an electrician from Pulwama, was taken into custody from an industrial area for questioning. Sources indicate the probe has revealed substantial evidence suggesting his potential involvement in the conspiracy, leading investigators to examine his role more closely.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact nature of Ahmed's alleged participation in the terror plot.

His detention follows the issuance of an arrest warrant against another key accused, Dr Muzaffar Ahmad Rather from Kulgam. Sources suggest Dr Muzaffar fled India in August and is believed to be hiding in Afghanistan. Investigators describe him as a key conduit between Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) handlers and an interstate "white-collar" militant network.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have requested an Interpol Red Corner Notice to assist in locating and extraditing Dr Muzaffar.

Investigators say the action is part of an intensified crackdown after authorities unearthed a major terror setup involving 2,900 kg of explosives and a vehicle-borne bomb used in the deadly blast.
