Migrant Woman throws three children to death into Ropar Canal, father died by suicide few months ago
PTC News Desk: In a heart-breaking incident, a middle-aged widow allegedly thre her three children two sons and a daughter into a canal near Morinda on Monday evening.
The woman's husband, Kamal, had died by suicide a few months ago.
The woman has been identified as Shakuntala alias Suman and her children Nitin (4), Tanvi (6) and Tapish (10). Police have recovered the bodies of two children while search for the third one is on till the filing of the story.
Police have taken the woman into custody and are questioning her to determine the reason behind the alleged incident.
Investigators are also trying to find out whether she acted alone or if someone else was with her and the children at the time. In addition, police are verifying claims made by her brother that she had been struggling with mental health problems since her husband's death. Officials said they are examining all possible angles of the case.
Meanwhile, the children's grandmother, who is mourning their loss, has demanded justice and called for strict action against the accused woman.
