Pune Porsche crash accused teen not getting college admission, claims lawyer
PTC News Desk: Teen accused in Pune's Porsche car crash case has been “unable to get admission” to a management institute in Delhi because the institute required a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), claimed his lawyer.
Though the defence petitioned the board for the NOC, they later withdrew.
According to Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray, the defence filed an application with the JJB, stating that the Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) was unable to get admission due to the pending case and the institute's insistence on a NOC. “I responded that education was everyone's right guaranteed by the Constitution and he (minor accused) must get admission,” Hiray stated.
According to the defence's application, the 17-year-old teenager who reportedly drove the Porsche that crashed with two motorbike-borne IT engineers in May decided for a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) course at a Delhi-based institute.
The institute first admitted the teenager, whose father is a big builder in Pune, but then revoked his admission after requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which is overseeing his case.
The investigating officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ganesh Ingale, revealed that the defence sought direction from the JJB on the admission issue before withdrawing the application.
"The defence stated that they no longer want to pursue admission in the Delhi-based institute and (the teenager) now wants to take admission in a Pune college," the lawyer added.
