Manali : In the bustling tourist city of Manali, where throngs of visitors pour in annually, the enforcement of traffic rules has become markedly stricter.

These stricter rules aim to ensure road safety and regulatory compliance amid the heavy influx of tourists and ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for both residents and visitors in this popular destination.

In the recent crackdown on traffic violations, Manali police fined Punjab’s Ludhiana tourists Rs 23,000 for converting their private vehicle into a pseudo-ambulance and utilising it for commercial purposes.

This incident unfolded under the supervision of DSP KD Sharma, who has been spearheading efforts to tighten traffic regulations in the bustling tourist haven.

During the supervision, Manali police noticed a vehicle bearing a Punjab number plate and flashing a blue light pulled up at Rambagh Chowk, Manali on Tuesday.

Upon investigation, it emerged that the car was operated by Harveer Singh from Ludhiana and was a privately-owned vehicle posing as an ambulance.

Upon stopping the vehicle and requesting documentation, Punjab tourist Harveer Singh was unable to present a driving license or any documentation authorising the vehicle's use as an ambulance.

Taking a stringent action against tourist, Manali police fined a total challan of Rs 23,000. In an official statement,  DSP KD Sharma said, “The police thoroughly searched the vehicle but found no objectionable material inside.”

“However, the use of a private vehicle for commercial purposes, driving without a license, and illegally installing a blue light are serious offenses,” he added.

Notably, the Kullu-Manali region, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant culture, has seen a significant surge in tourist arrivals.
