Rain expected in Delhi next week; heavy snowfall forecasted for Himachal Pradesh

PTC News Desk: According to the latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi and its neighbouring regions, including parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, are likely to experience light showers accompanied by thunderstorms. In Delhi, the capital city, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated throughout the upcoming week, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 27°C and 9°C, respectively.

The weather outlook for Delhi indicates partly cloudy skies with light drizzles and thunder on Monday night, followed by cloudy conditions and light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Friday, cloudy skies are anticipated over the capital, with weather conditions expected to improve by Saturday.


On Saturday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4°C, marking a departure of four notches below the season's average, while the maximum temperature stood at 26.5°C, two notches above average. Relative humidity ranged between 90% and 41%.

In addition to Delhi's weather forecast, parts of Himachal Pradesh are also bracing for significant weather activity. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh on February 18 and 19, with a yellow warning issued for heavy rain/snow accompanied by thunderstorms on February 20 and 21.

This weather outlook for Himachal Pradesh comes as a result of a fresh western disturbance expected to impact the western Himalayan region starting Saturday night. The state, which has seen below-average rainfall during the winter season, is expected to receive much-needed precipitation, particularly in the lower hills where heavy rains are anticipated, while mid and higher hills are likely to experience both rain and snowfall.
