Ram Navami 2024: Ram Navami is celebrated all over India every year on the last day of Chaitra Navaratri to mark the birth of Lord Rama. On this auspicious day, young girls, representing the nine forms of the goddess Durga, are offered gifts and prasad.
Devotees observe this day with prayers, fasting, singing bhajans (devotional songs), and reading the Ramayana (epic story of Lord Rama).
Several states observe bank closures today, April 17 on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. According to the Reserve Bank of India's official holiday list, both public and private sector banks will remain closed in various cities including Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, etc.
The Reserve Bank has notified the holiday under three brackets — the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
