Ratan Tata's millennial friend Shantanu Naidu clinches top role at Tata Motors
Rata Tata's millennial friend and close confidant Shantanu Naidu took to his LinkedIn and announced significant career move. Naidu, known for his special bond with late industrialist Ratan Tata, was promoted to General Manager, Head of Strategic Initiatives, at Tata Motors after spending more than six years at Tata Sons.
"I'm happy to share that I'm starting a new position as General Manager, Head - Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors!" he wrote.
"I remember when my father used to walk home from the Tata Motors plant in his white shirt and navy pants, and I would wait for him in the window. It comes full circle now," he added further in a heartfelt post.
Along with the heartfelt note he also shared a picture of himself with nano car, a vehicle closely associated with Ratan Tata's vision of affordable mobility.
Shantanu Naidu's association with Ratan Tata was beyond professional terms. The duo shared a rare bond which was seemingly evident as the industrialist also named his millennial friend in his will highlighting their rare bond.
Naidu, a mechanical engineer graduate emabarked on his professional journey as an intern at Tata Technologies before joining Tata Elxsi. It was in 2014 that he first caught Ratan Tata’s eye.
Following the demise of veteral industrialist, Naidu shared an emotional post in a tribute to his friend and mentor descriing him as his lighthouse. “The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price to pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse,” he wrote, posting a picture of the two together.
